I think Action for Prisoners' Families is a lifeline for prisoners' families - their resources are very accessible and they've worked hard so that families can find out what they need to know.
Family member in prison?
Need help? Advice?
If you have a partner, child, friend or other relative in prison you will need to know what information and support is available to you, what you can do, and who can help.
Action for Prisoners' Families members all provide family support services - some provide services in courts, some to particular groups such as grandparents, others work in visitors' centres or in prisons through first night in custody or family support work, others through helplines or by giving advice, publishing information or guidance.
If you are a family member join up for free and get involved in Action for Prisoners' Families special interest groups and forums where you can talk to other family members about who or what has helped you.
Action for Prisoners' Families Family Members Advisory Group has been set up to enable families to feed into policy development and to enable families to speak for themselves. Go to our Family Voices page
Action for Prisoners' Families Outsider survival guides provide information for families from arrest to release and can be downloaded below.
Go to our resources for children and familiespage to see what we and our members have produced for families.
This directory of criminal justice and legal terms may be useful to you to explain the words which are used in sentencing, prison, social work, etc.
