Organisations working with prisoners' families have been hugely influential in changing views and attitudes.
Make a difference
The experiences of prisoners' families and the people who work with them are crucial to our work.
We want to know what you have found useful, what you need to know about, who you think we should be talking to; we can also suggest what you can do to get involved and make an impact.
How can you get involved?
Are you a lone worker with clients who are prisoners' or offenders' families? Are you a family member? Maybe you're an interested member of the public? Whatever your background you can join our network and make a difference.
Join up for free membershipand participate in our on-line special interest groups and find out what you can do. You can also attend our events, volunteer (many of our members work with volunteers), campaign and lobby, look at the many ways family and practitioner voices can be heard, and support our work by making a one-off donation or setting up a regular standing order, buying a publication or other resourceor promoting our work in your workplace or at events.
Contact us if you'd like further details of how you can get involved.
Volunteering - Prison based visitors' centres rely on volunteers as do many helplines. The voluntary sector is the backbone of services to prisoners' families - whether it is serving tea in a visitors' centre or helping familes navigate the difficult route through the prison system. Volunteers rarely get the recognition that they deserve, but they support prisoners' families all over the country. Go to our links page to find out about the organisations which work directly with families and find out who uses volunteers.
