£62bn savings are to be made
While There has been no specific news about the criminal justice system, the coalition have pledged to ensure that vulnerable groups continue to get the support they need. Deborah Cowley, Director of Action for Prisoners' Families, says "We welcome the news that Sure Start programmes will be protected as their work is a valuable contribution to the support that is so badly needed by the thousands of families affected by imprisonment. However, we are concerned that budget cuts may undermine the progress that has been made to support family ties in the prison system - reduced funding led to travel support for elderly and disabled visitors to prisons being cut by the last government."Latest news articles:
